The commonly used laser plastic welding equipment mainly includes the following types:

Pulsed Laser Welding Equipment

Principle: A pulsed laser generates high-energy-density laser pulses, which are focused on the plastic welding area. The plastic material instantly absorbs the laser energy and converts it into heat, achieving local melting and welding.

Features: High peak power, capable of providing sufficient energy for welding in a short time, suitable for applications requiring high welding speed. The pulse width and frequency can be precisely adjusted to optimize the heat input according to different plastic materials and welding requirements, reducing the heat-affected zone and minimizing the impact on material properties.

Applications: Commonly used for welding small plastic components such as automotive interior parts and electronic component housings, such as plastic trim strips on car dashboards and plastic housings of in-car electronic devices.

**Continuous Laser Welding Equipment**

Principle: A continuous laser outputs a continuous laser beam, which continuously acts on the plastic welding area, causing the plastic material to heat and melt uniformly, forming a strong welded joint.

Features: Stable laser energy output, providing continuous heat, suitable for applications with larger welding areas and relatively slower welding speeds. It can achieve high welding strength and good welding quality, with uniform and aesthetically pleasing welds.

Applications: Widely used in the welding of large automotive plastic components, such as car bumpers and fuel tanks. These components usually require a large welding area and high welding strength, which continuous laser welding equipment can meet.

Fiber Laser Welding Equipment

Principle: Using optical fiber as the laser transmission and gain medium, it generates a high-energy-density laser beam for welding. The laser beam output from the fiber laser has good beam quality and high energy concentration.

Features: High photoelectric conversion efficiency, low energy consumption, and relatively low operating costs. The equipment is small in size and light in weight, making it easy to install and integrate into automated production lines. The laser beam can be flexibly transmitted through optical fibers, facilitating remote welding and welding of complex shapes.

Applications: Widely used in automotive plastic welding, it can be used for welding various automotive plastic components, including interior trim parts and plastic components in the engine compartment. It is especially suitable for applications requiring high-precision and high-speed welding, such as the welding of automotive electronic control unit (ECU) housings. Excimer Laser Welding Equipment

Principle: Excimer lasers utilize a mixture of inert gases and halides as the working medium to generate high-energy laser pulses in the ultraviolet (UV) range. UV lasers have short wavelengths and high energy, allowing them to be directly absorbed by the chemical bonds on the surface of plastic materials, achieving a cold welding process, meaning the temperature rise on the material surface during welding is minimal.

Features: Due to cold welding, the heat-affected zone is extremely small, resulting in minimal thermal damage to the plastic material and preserving the material's original properties and appearance. High welding precision is achieved, with micron-level accuracy, suitable for applications requiring extremely high welding quality.

Applications: Primarily used for welding automotive plastic components that require stringent welding precision and material performance, such as automotive sensor housings and microfluidic chips.

Handheld Laser Welding Equipment

Principle: The laser generator, cooling system, and control system are integrated into a handheld device. The operator uses the handheld welding head to weld plastic components. Its working principle is similar to other types of laser welding equipment, but the operation is more flexible.

Features: The equipment is compact, easy to carry and operate, suitable for on-site repair, small-batch production, or situations where automated equipment is difficult to use. The welding position and angle can be flexibly adjusted according to actual welding needs, offering high flexibility and adaptability.

Applications: Widely used in the automotive manufacturing after-sales service field, such as repairing damaged automotive plastic parts and local welding reinforcement. It can also be used for small-batch production in some small automotive parts manufacturing companies.
